Picture this. It’s a weekday morning. You get on the underground, head into London, near Kings Cross, with all the miserable commuters. The only difference between you and them? You’re not miserable!

Here’s why you’re not miserable. You work at a well-known consumer brand. Your mum loves their stuff… gets teary even talking about them! The company respects your talent and trusts your judgement. Although you’re working in Perl, for the time being, the company will soon be migrating to Node.js. You’ll get to learn a new language, while ensuring nothing breaks during the upgrade.

Other reasons you’re not miserable? The job pays well 35-40k a year. You don’t need a degree (but you do need 1-3 years of experience). You get holidays—25 of them, to start. Your colleagues are energized, and it rubs off on you. Still, they don’t intrude and let you alone to do your work. It’s a fun company for a serious developer who wants to contribute to the company’s infrastructure.

The area is convenient and walkable, stocked with dozens of restaurants, pubs, and stores.

This job is no longer officially open, but see below for how to register your interest in roles like this, and be told as if the company reopens hiring.
