To boldly go where no one has gone before

Some kids grew up playing video games. Others spent their time taking apart the family DVD player to see how it worked and incurring the wrath of their parents. If you were one of those curious little tykes with a yen to know how things work then set your phasers to stun, because we have the role for you!

Our client is a leading online tech publication with more than 40 millions readers worldwide. Their articles cover electronics, hardware, software, AI, cloud services, culture, and — you guessed it — outer space. They’re in the know about planets, photon torpedoes, and what the Borg are up to right now.

Operating out of a London office that offers the opportunity to work remotely, this is a small, self-motivated team. Critical to your success is the ability to work independently. No expendable red shirts here; everyone is important to the team and has to pull their weight on the expedition — er, project. Your role is a combination of SysAdmin-meets-DevOps. You’ll be working with their Debian-based Linux systems, their Perl, Bash, and Linux tooling. Key to your mission will be improving the automation of their deployment systems to enable tech and ad-ops teams to go live at lightspeed.

Other facets of your role will include tweaking server build scripts, documentation and application of backup and restore procedures, monitoring servers and their logs, keeping systems current, and making sure the warp core doesn’t melt down. They’re looking for a creative crew member who enjoys writing their own tools using Perl, Bash, HTML, CSS, and JS.

The shuttle’s leaving soon, so if you want to beam aboard, now’s the time to send us your CV and tell us why you should be the next crew member on the USS Fantastic Job!
