Defender of the Internet!

Kids can learn a lot of useful things from the internet. How to throw a curveball, for example, or the best way to negotiate an extra hour of screen time with Mum and Dad. There are plenty of positive things on the worldwide web, but it’s not all roses and candy floss. We need someone to protect young eyes from the seedier side of online offerings, and we hope that person is you!

A leading digital safeguarding solutions provider is looking for a software engineer experienced in C, C++, or Perl. You’ll have strong Linux knowledge and a methodical approach to problem solving that you use to investigate, replicate, and address customer issues. As the first line of defence against issues that may weaken the walls protecting children, your role will be to troubleshoot, debug, and strengthen the system keeping young folks safe. Your keen understanding of firewalls, proxies, Iptables, Squid, VPNs/IPSec and HTTP(S) will be key to your success at this company.

Speaking of the company, they’re pretty proud of their team. They know that happy people stay put, which is why they’ve cultivated an excellent corporate culture. In addition to competitive salaries and strong benefits, they offer stellar parental leave (for mothers and fathers — hello, twenty-first century!), flexible benefits, and fun perks like travel to work schemes, electric car charging, and gym discounts. They’re located in LEEDS, but no worries if you’re reading this from elsewhere in the UK or EU. This role is remote-friendly, so if you’ve got the skill sets they’re looking for and a passion for keeping young people safe, you may be the person they’re looking for.
