It’s awards season, and you’re nominated!

A hush falls over the crowd. There can only be one winner. Who will it be? The envelope is opened. You wait, and… drumroll, please… THEY’RE CALLING YOUR NAME! You’re the winner of the Best Flatmate award!

Dreams can come true, and for over 15 years, our client has been making flatshare dreams a reality for people throughout the UK and the US. They live and breathe their vision that collaboration is better than isolation; working on short-lived, self-organized project teams, staff code in pairs to improve skills. If you’re a Perl software developer who has experience with other languages like Gearman, Memcached, Sphinx, and MySQL, and you hope to help others find the flatmate of their dreams, then this role is calling to you.

Head down the red carpet to your new office in Central Manchester. Your new teammates are clapping and whistling, shaking your hand as you pass. On your way to your seat, grab a complimentary fancy coffee and a free snack, then settle in for a day in a positive, engaging environment. After work, the limo will whisk you off to Vogue’s after party… okay, we might not be on THAT list, but there are piles of planned activities outside the office to keep you going. Add to that a Cycle to Work scheme, gym membership contributions, and matched pension contributions, and who needs that snooty Vogue crowd?

This family-business-turned-bigger-family-business is still 100% owned by the founders and directors. They’ve maintained their small-office feel while offering the perks of an established company. Maybe a swag bag or two on your way out the door? We can’t promise, but you never know!

You can’t win an award if you don’t apply, so send us an email and nominate yourself today for this exciting role. Your adoring fans await!

Skills and Experience

  • Exposure to Modern Perl is essential; you should be comfortable with using Perl’s testing tools, not be scared of DBIx::Class, and have come to grips with at least one of Perl’s excellent MVCs
  • Experience designing and integrating with RESTful APIs
  • Exposure to tooling for managing loads and spikes like Gearman and Memcached would be awesome too
