Not all heroes wear capes — and some of them work in Canary Wharf.

Look there, up in the sky: It’s a bird — it’s a plane — it’s you, saving UK job hunters from disaster one click at a time! Could you be the next Captain Career Search or Wonder Worker? If you’ve ever dreamed of donning the tights and mask, or even if you think you haven’t got the legs for the tights but would like to make a difference to people all over the UK, then read on.

Our client is looking for a Perl programmer who can leap tall buildings in a single bound, save the city from a supervillain, and still make it to work on time. Their fortress of fun is found in Canary Wharf, so after the heroism is sorted, you and your new dream-team colleagues are only minutes from a great pint, a sizzling steak, or lunchtime picnics on the grass.

This isn’t the place for curmudgeons — this company has a dynamic, upbeat corporate culture that embraces positivity, enthusiasm, and new ideas. They’ve got all the energy of a start-up with none of the drawbacks! When they’re not out saving the world, they regularly hold Hacker Days for employees to prototype new, cool features. You know that ray gun you want for your next dust-up with your arch nemesis? Now’s the time to design it!

The client is a secret society of superheroes masquerading as an international company with a knack for making recruitment functions a breeze. Over 80% of all UK job ads are posted through their servers, so they are the first and last word for millions of job seekers and recruiters. and their prowess means that employers connect with top candidates in a fraction of the time. If you sign on with this team of heroes and heroines, you’ll be on the front lines making sure that the evil Unemployment Ogre stays down for the count.

Biff! Bop! Ready to fight your way to the top? Get on the Bat Phone and let us know that you’re in it to win it (or better yet, send us an email; the Bat Phone’s reception isn’t what it used to be.)

Skills and Experience

The client is interested in anyone with experience building web apps in Perl, using one of the major Perl frameworks. If you’re a crack-hand with Catalyst, a Mojolicious master, or a distinguished Dance, they want you. You’ll be deploying apps your work to AWS, so experience would be handy, and the company’s big on testing, so they’d like you to know your way around Test::More.

About the Client

The company makes software that’s literally crucial to keeping recruitment running worldwide. Any time you see a job ad on an online job board in the UK, there’s a 80% chance it went through this company’s servers. Their client list includes virtually every large recruitment agency, every small recruitment agency, and they handle the recruitment software needs of Boeing, Pepsi, and Hilton.
