I still write a fair amount of Perl code (CPAN, GitHub). It’s invaluable to have it so widely tested, so we sponsor the CPAN Testers (as well as the QA Hackathon, but that’s on the conferences page).
I have a biased and anecdata-backed opinion that the best programmers are often people who got in to it as teenagers (or younger) and learned to think like a programmer as an adolescent, coming to love working with computers. To that end, if we want more diversity in tech – by which I mean more excellent programmers from diverse backgrounds – we should really start young. To that end, we give monthly to Black Girls Code.
We give monthly to Mozilla, just because.
